History
Even given it's proximity to Nu Gong Zao, the Shan peninsula is particularly
independent from the main kingdom of Ye. This is because it has several strong and
powerful city states and the mountainous terrain does not suit deployment of massive
armies.

Since the wars of that marked the beginning of the Tang
empire, that now rules the Kingdom of Ye, some of the cities have begun the long slow
reconstruction activity. The city of Wu Tze Lee was destroyed by the Armies of the Fleet
of Ye under the command of Prince Hei Ho Bang and then the armies Hel Churl. This city is
now under the control of Hel Churl, very much changing the balance of power in the region. |

With disastrous consequences for the peninsula, and the
assistance of the Heavenly Breauracracy, Wu Tze Lee was able to steal the three heavenly
opals. He hid one in Wu Tze Lee, Another with a locust queen friend in the mountains and
the third at Wing Ting Mai. The now emperor was able to retrieve all three stones. In the
ensuing battles, Wu Tze Lee was raised. |
Geography
The two key features of the Shan Peninsula are the mountains and the Niao Jiang. With
the exception of the fertile river valley stretching downstream form Hel Churl, the area
is covered by very high and steep mountains. A few towns and villages cling to the coast.
Each form's it's own city state. However, most of the mountains is just unexplored
wilderness.

Hao Jiao (Da DuShi, 205,142)
This city is at the toe of the Shan Peninsula and hence the most remote city on the
Peninsula from the power bases of Hel Churl and the Kingdom of Ye. It is governed by local
merchants, who are known as smugglers in most of the rest of the peninsula. It is also the
only port that knows of the world of Forgotten Realms, across the endless sea. There are
regular (once per week) trips from this city to the Forgotten Realms.
The Da DuShi is built on the edge of a steep mountain. The only access is by sea. The
Roads are actually stairs and the houses are all on tall stilts on the seaward side and
quite narrow. At the sea is a long wharf. Ships docked here need to pay the harbour
masters fee of one Gold Spade per day.
Political Map
Each city or town is a separate kingdom, though some are allied. Chang Chiang and Hel
Churl are allied. Wu Tze Lee is under the control of Hel Churl. Wing Ting Mai and Hiao
Jiao have a good, informal relationship.
Hel Churl controls, in principal, the entire Niao Jiang river system. However, their
main control is south of this to the borders with the Kingdom of Ye.
