Spice is an old herbal remedy that has been in use for many thousands of years. It's
common use is in food preparation, however, it has other applications, some of which are
little known or lost in the library vaults of antiquity.
The street price of spice is 4,000gp per kilo. The wholesale price is 500 GP per kilo.
Spice has the following effects:
 | Tastes good. 5g will cover the effects of food that perhaps needs to be fresher to taste
good. |
 | Consumption of 1 tablespoon (25g) cures one point of temporary ability loss. If more
than one ability has been temporarily lost then abilities are restored in the following
order: Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma, Dexterity, Constitution, and Strength. This will
only work once per day. |
 | There are various special brews, such as the potion of restoration. |
 | When fed to ordinary blips, spice causes them to develop into winged blips. The blips
need to be fed 100g every month for 2 years. These blips will develop one set of wings. If
they are fed 200g every month they will develop 2 sets of wings and 400g per month will
create blips with 3 sets of wings. Any dosage above 400g per month typically leads to the
death of the blip. |
 | Characters can overdose on the spice. An overdose occurs if the character takes more
than 30g in one hour. When the character overdoses on spice, there is a 10% chance,
cumulative, for every additional 30g or part thereof, of the character dying (no save). A
character who survives the overdose gains a permanent +1 point of temporary point
restoration per day, without the need for rest. This benefit does not stack. |
The secret of making Spice is that it is made from two components. One is the ordinary
plant, Mountain Lotus Root, and the other is a very rare mould that is only found in the
dungeons of the Chan Xian Yuen. The Lotus Root is harvested and then stored in the
preparations rooms, deep within the keep. The mould then grows into the lotus root over
the next 10 years. It is then prepared, through a secret process to create the spice.
